Learn Safe Drive Safe  is a driver training scheme that is delivered by specially trained driving instructors to learner drivers as part of a normal driving lesson.

The scheme covers the following risk increasing factors which are known to be linked to crashes involving new drivers:

  • Fatigue
  • Speed
  • Distraction
  • Seatbelts
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Peer pressure
  • Self-evaluation

These topics are covered in-car during normal driving lessons by use of micro lessons based around a set of simple worksheets. The in car time takes only a few minutes of a lesson.  Further support is given through 3 e-learning modules.  These modules are:

  • Keeping control:  This looks at peer pressure and time pressures
  • Maintaining focus:  This looks at distraction
  • Impairment:  This looks at alcohol and fatigue

There are also modules available covering:

  • Motorway driving
  • Night driving
  • Rural driving
  • Eco driving
  • Cycling (What a driver needs to consider)

There is also a specific module for parents of learner drivers
