Learn Safe Drive Safe is a driver training scheme that is delivered by specially trained driving instructors to learner drivers as part of a normal driving lesson.
The scheme covers the following risk increasing factors which are known to be linked to crashes involving new drivers:
- Peer pressure
These topics are covered in-car during normal driving lessons by use of micro lessons based around a set of simple worksheets. The in car time takes only a few minutes of a lesson. Further support is given through 3 e-learning modules. These modules are:
- Keeping control: This looks at peer pressure and time pressures
- Maintaining focus: This looks at distraction
- Impairment: This looks at alcohol and fatigue
There are also modules available covering:
- Motorway driving
- Night driving
- Rural driving
- Eco driving
- Cycling (What a driver needs to consider)
There is also a specific module for parents of learner drivers
